As the 2018 IARU HF Championship was chosen as the arena for WRTC activity was high this summer contest weekend. I decided to kick out the K3/TS-590 combo and go all SDR in SO2R configuration. Rewiring the station for IARU HF Championship. This year I am going to enter the Single Operator Unlimited CW High Power category with the goal so set a decent record. The station will be using only SDR, Software Defined Radio equipment, and at this moment preparation is in full force.
I like 24 hour contests, its not that i don’t like a major 48 hour effort, but a 24 hour contest is easy to participate in. Its a blessing not having to spend the full Friday with preparations and most of Monday to recover. The IARU HF Challenge is the perfect contest in that respect.
I had not really prepared for the 2012 edition of the IARU HF Challenge because of intensified preparations of the upcoming CY9M expedition, but I spent an hour reading up on past years achievements deciding it was time for a CW only effort with a goal to reach 1700 contacts. Not checking the propagation in advance I did not bother to calculate a goal for the final score, I was more focused on the number of contacts.

SEØX was active in the IARU Contest this past weekend operated by SMØMDG Björn in the Single Operator SSB High Power category. Most contacts where made on 20 meter but 15 and 10 where also open and 10 meter provided the second most number of contacts of all bands in the contest. No transmit antenna
